Orgs (Group Purchasing)

Create an Org to purchase Premium subscriptions for multiple users under one credit card

Orgs provide an easy way to manage multiple personal Premium subscriptions paid for under one credit card. You can create an Org, send an email invitation to the people for which you are buying the subscriptions, and then upgrade the Org to buy Premium for each user under a Premium Org subscription.

Contact [email protected] if you have more than 20 users or are buying for your business

Orgs are designed to be a fully self-service way to buy and manage licenses under one credit card. If you are buying for more than 20 users, contact [email protected] to discuss getting a Business Subscription agreement.

A Business Subscription is required for the use of odrive Premium in a business environment, including with the use of certain business-centric integrations. A Business Subscription will also help ensure that you have access to priority support and guidance from our team for your questions, business requirements, deployment considerations, and more.

PURCHASING MULTIPLE PREMIUM LICENSES

These are the steps required for using Orgs to purchase subscriptions under one credit card:

  1. Activate the Orgs feature on your account from the Org Access page. You will now see the ORG tab on your odrive home.
  2. Create your first Org. Click on + Create org link to open the create org dialog. You can give your Org a name and specify email addresses for which you'd like to send an email invite.
  3. You can send more invitations or remove existing members and invited members until you're satisfied and are ready to purchase.
  4. Go to the SUBSCRIPTION tab of your Org and find the PLAN field. It should indicate that you are on the Freemium plan. Select the "change" link next to it.
  5. Review the billing confirmation message for your subscription charges and then enter your credit card information to complete the transaction.
  6. Review your billing history and new invoice to confirm that the correct payment has been posted and that all of the information is correct.

Cancel within 30 days for a full refund

If this is your first purchase with us, you can cancel any time within 30 days to get a full refund. We want you to have plenty of time explore all of the Premium features and to feel comfortable with your decision.

ADDING AND REMOVING LICENSES

After you've upgraded, you can still invite or remove Org members.

If you are adding licenses, you may need to purchase additional licenses before inviting new members if you are up to your current license limit.

If you are removing users, note that your paid license count will still remain the same so that you have some open, unallocated licenses remaining. You can either keep these free license units available if you're planning on adding someone else soon or reduce your license units to reclaim some credit for the remaining time left in that unused license.

In either case, the Premium Org subscription's renewal date always remains the same and any additional charges or credits issued are prorated accordingly.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do the people I want to invite have to sign up for odrive first?

No, the people you invite will get an email with a link that they can use to join the Org. They will be able to create a new user as part of the sign-in flow if they don't have an odrive user yet. See our Set up Orgs documentation for more information.

Do I have to upgrade everyone in the Org at once?

The Org facility primarily exists as a way of purchasing and managing Premium subscriptions for multiple users under one credit card. So you can simply leave out anyone from the Org that you don't want to purchase Premium for immediately. Once you've upgraded, you can always increase your license count and invite other users at your convenience later on.

Is there a free trial of Premium Orgs?

The Premium capabilities granted from a Premium Org subscription and an individual Premium subscription are the same. So your new users will each get a free personal 7-day trial of Premium as part of their normal sign-up benefits. You can encourage your users to explore odrive during their 7-day trial.

Additionally, you can take advantage of our cancellation policy. First time purchases will be able to cancel any time within 30 days for a full refund. Your organization can use that time to explore odrive together as well.

What's the difference between a free Org and a Premium Org?

A free Org is useful for setting up the initial set of users you want to purchase Premium for before you make your initial purchase. You can always make incremental changes later, but each time you want to change your subscription units results in additional transactions which can make your billing history view less tidy. So for your first set of users, add everyone to the Org first and then upgrade.

There aren't any Org-specific features other than group purchasing, so the main difference is that users in your Org all get Premium capabilities if there's a Premium Org subscription. Users in a free Org don't see any additional benefit.

If I get Premium from an Org, is it limited in any way to that Org?

The Premium capabilities that are granted to you by any Org membership are the same as if you would have purchased an individual Premium license. You can use the Premium benefits against any storage you have (even if they are unrelated to your premium Org membership). Also, having multiple sources of Premium doesn't give you any more or any less benefits than if you had Premium from one source.

What happens if I get Premium from more than one Org?

See above. Having multiple sources of Premium doesn't give you any more or any less benefits than if you had Premium from one source.

What happens if I have my own personal Premium subscription and I get Premium from an Org?

You are allowed to have Premium from both sources, but you won't have any additional benefits from doing so. So you could consider canceling your personal Premium subscription if your relationship with your Premium Org is something you see being long-term in nature.

Are there any unique features for Premium Org users that personal Premium users don't have?

There aren't any Org-specific features currently. The Orgs concept mainly exists to facilitate group purchasing under one credit card.

What is the main difference between a Business Subscription and an Org?
